What is a healthy heart? Come explore the how’s and why’s of disease prevention and what prevention looks like. Learn about the basic risk factors of heart diseases and how different lifestyles affect the heart.
This presentation is geared toward people of all walks of life.

About the Presenter: Angela has a Master’s Degree of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Washington State University, Spokane, where she focues on the effects of cancer, heart disease, stroke and diabetes, with extensive training in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. She is currently practicing as a Registered Dietician in Aurora, MN.
Daddy Daughter Dance
Saturday, February 7 6:00 – 8:00pm
Mt Iron Community Center
Joins us for our 2nd annual Daddy Daughter Dance! Don’t miss out on the chance to twirl your little girl around the dance floor. Dads, Dad-figures and Grandpas will take part in an evening of everlasting memories. DJ entertainment provided by Iron Range DJ’s and light refreshments will be on site as well as Photographs by Rhonda to order a special keepsake.
Tickets are limited to 150 couples, register early!
Cost: $25 per couple ($5 each additional daughter)

Lifeguard Training Course
February 2 – 5 and 9 – 12
Course instruction will be held Monday – Thursday 5:00 – 9:00pm at the Y.
This course includes CPR/AED Professional Rescuer & Administering Emergency Oxygen. Minimum age is 15 years.

Try New Challenges in the Water
Program activities include: Lifeguarding Skills, Inner Tube Water Polo, Snorkeling and Underwater Hockey
Open to 12 – 15 year olds who can complete the following swim requirements: 50 yards Front Crawl. 50 yards Breaststroke, Tread Water 2 minutes, Submerge & Dive 7 feet underwater.
Workshops held monthly on Fridays 7:00 – 9:00pm – February 6, March 6, April 10, May 1
Program Fee: $5 per workshop

Mesabi Iron Guard Swim Challenge
January 12 – April 30
We challenge you to swim the Mesabi Iron Guard Swim Challenge – it’s a total of 58,500 yards! You choose your start date and complete the workouts as your schedule allows.
- Increase your physical conditioning
- Develop strength, endurance & confidence
- Learn new training techniques
- Enjoy the comraderie of other swimmers
It’s a variety of 30-minute swim challenges set over the course of 4 months. BUT WAIT…Complete the challenge in 6 weeks and you’ll earn the IRON GUARD status!
All workouts must be completed in the Mesabi YMCA pool. All participants must swim the plan in order. The lifeguard on duty must sign off on each completed workout.
FREE – Just register with any YMCA lifeguard on duty. Non-members may purchase a Y day pass for each workout to use the pool.

TRX Suspension Training
Class days & times available on our current Group Fitness Class schedule.
TRX classes offer a variety to your workout routine that will challenge you. It is modifiable for a wide range of fitness abilities. Consider TRX classes another tool in your toolbox to help you achieve your fitness goals!
Pre-registration required. Register online at mesabiymca.org or at our Member Services Desk for each class you’d like to attend.
You may register for classes up to one week in advance.
