At the Y we believe that being healthy means more than simply being physically active. It is about maintaining balanced spirit, mind and body. The Y is a leading voice on healthy and well-being issues and is committed to empowering people to lead fuller lives. We bring families closer together, promote healthy living, and foster connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. As a result, Iron Range youth, adults and families, are receiving the support, guidance, and resources needed to achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind and body.
Serving families has always been at the heart of the Y. We are a place where families can find respite from social, economic, and educational challenges and learn how to overcome them. We have a fundamental desire to to provide opportunities for every family to build stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life balance and become more engaged with their communities.
HEALTH, WELL-BEING & FITNESS
Because we know that healthy lifestyles are achieved through nurturing mind, body and spirit, “well-being” and “fitness” at the Y includes more than just working out. In addition to our physical fitness classes and facilities, we provide educational programs such as our National Diabetes Prevention Program to promote healthier decisions.
All group exercise classes are part of Health, Well-Being, and Fitness. See what group fitness classes are currently being offered at our YMCA.
SPORTS & RECREATION
Sports, fun, and exploring new interests aren’t just for the young! Along with improving health, whenever teamwork is involved, there’s the added benefit of being connected to others. Individual sports and recreational activities also improve the health of the spirit while exercising the body.
Basketball, volleyball, and racquetball were all started at the Y (and Father’s Day, too!). With something to offer everyone, there’s no such thing as being too old to get in the game. See how our Y makes Sports and Recreation an important part of Healthy Living.
