This option allows members to attend any 8:35am and/or 1:05pm water exercise classes as their schedule permits. Come to as many classes as you’d like Monday through Friday each week!

Zumba

Join the Party! A fusion of Latin dance moves and cardio exercises to create a fun, easy to follow, spicy workout to great Latin, Pop and Dance music. Classes being offered this winter Tuesday & Thursday 6:15 - 7:00pm.

FREE for Y members!

Non-Members may attend as many Zumba classes as they’d like with the purchase of the Y Class Pass - $70 per program session. Class passes can be purchased at our Member Services Desk.

Mesabi Family Y Swim Test Policy

Youth under the age of 12 must show proficiency in swimming ability to use the pool without an adult, parent or guardian.

  • The swim test may be taken repeatedly until passed. An individual may only take the swim test once a day.
  • Y staff reserve the right to re-test any child at anytime when they feel it is necessary
  • If determined a youth non-swimmer by the swim test results the youth must have a responsible adult with them in the water at all times within arm’s reach (one adult per 2 children). If adult cannot be in the water, the youth must wear a PFD and have an adult actively supervise them.
  • Upon checking in with their membership card, patrons with a pass rating will be issued a bracelet allowing them to swim without an adult guardian present in the water with them. Youth under the age of 9 must have an adult guardian with them at all times while using the facility.

Toddler Time

FREE for members!

A special time in the gym just for parents and tots to run, tumble and play! The Y has a variety of equipment available for use including mats, scooters, balls and more. Please see the current gym schedule for days and times.

AGES: Infant - 5 years (must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)

FEES: Non-Members $3 per family

Fitness Center Orientation

Are you new to the Y or do you feel lost in our fitness center? We will coach you on how to use the cardio and strength training equipment as well as answer other questions you may have. Inquire at the Member Services Desk to set up a one-on-one orientation time with our fitness staff. YMCA members only.

Group Fitness Classes - Free for Y members!

BEGINNERS GOLDEN YOGA

Designed for all fitness and age levels including those who are new to yoga, recovering from injuries, or pre/post-natal. Introduces participants to the concept of yoga with gentle stretching, rhythmic movements and breathing techniques to improve flexibility and reduce stress. Chair support is optional.

BOOT CAMP

Focus on cardio, strength, endurance, agility and more – a perfect class for all fitness levels, males and females. Challenge yourself with this indoor/outdoor cross-training workout.

BODY STRENGTH

It’s a toning and conditioning class with weights and is for just about everybody who wants to add strength training into their aerobic workout.

GROUP CYCLING

An intense cardio workout for all fitness levels – work at your own level and at your own pace to create the perfect workout for you! Limited space available sign up for each class at the Member Services Desk.

SilverSneakers - Muscular Strength & Range of Movement

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Free for members of the SilverSneakers® Fitness Program.

Water Exercise

Cushioned, full-body workout in the shallow end of the pool. Need not be a swimmer to participate.

MS Water Exercise

A shallow water program designed for those with MS, fibromyalgia, arthritis and other physical limitations. Focusisonrangeofmotion, stretching and strengthening.
